The rounded handcrafted of lead free pewter ornament has a Cardinal on it and is approximately 2.25" round.
The Northern Cardinal is the most brilliantly colored member of the red finch family. The male cardinal adds his beauty to gardens and woodland edges over most of the U.S. and Mexico. It has been chosen state bird of many states, including Kentucky. Both the male and female have the distinctive head crest but the females' and juveniles' coloring is very subdued for camouflage. Luckily cardinals seem to thrive in city and suburban areas, and are not considered endangered. However, we can never take for granted their gifts of color and song, and a full bird-feeder in winter is the least we can do to thank them.
