This rounded handcrafted of lead free pewter Shaker Tree of Life ornament is approximately 2.25" round.
Early Shakers expressed religious imagination through illustrations called "spirit drawings". Perhaps the best known of these is the Tree of Life drawn in 1854 by Hannah Cohoon, a Shaker sister from Hancock Village, MA. In sister Hannah's image the disks are colored red and green and symbolize the abundant fruits of spiritual labor. Nowadays it's widely used to symbolize the simple integrity of Shaker heritage.
